Corsicana, TX, is a small town in the eastern part of the state that may not jump out at first when people think of vacation locations. Many people don’t realize that Corsicana has three amazing state parks within driving distance. You and your family can have an amazing vacation without ever getting on an airplane.

Fairfield Lake State Park

Fairfield Lake State Park is located in Bells, TX and offers a wide variety of activities. The park has 2,400 acres of land that include a lake, cabins, campsites, and more. There are many different types of wildlife in the area, including deer, squirrels, and birds.

There are trails throughout the park that allow visitors to enjoy walking or biking through the woods. Visitors can also enjoy fishing at the lake. The park also has a playground for children as well as picnic areas for family gatherings.

Purtis Creek State Park

Purtis Creek State Park is just 20 miles from Corsicana. This park features a lake, cabins and campsites, hiking trails, and picnic areas. There are also several activities that visitors can enjoy at the park, including fishing, swimming, and boating.

The park is open year-round and offers a variety of attractions for all seasons. During the winter months, visitors can enjoy snowshoeing on the trail system or ice skating on the pond. In the springtime, there are wildflowers blooming all over the park. Summer is a great time to swim in the lake or take a boat out on it. Fall brings cooler temperatures and more wildlife sightings, such as deer and turkeys roaming around the woods.

Fort Parker State Park

Fort Parker State Park is located in eastern Texas, just a short drive from Corsicana and Dallas. The park is named after the historic Fort Parker, which was built in 1838 by Comanche chief Peta Nocona, who died there during an attack on his people by a rival tribe. Today, the park is home to more than 1,000 acres of grasslands, forests, and lakes. The grounds are also home to three different campsites, each with its own unique amenities.

Visitors can enjoy swimming at Lake Bob Sandlin or fishing at Lake Bob Sandlin or Lake Kemp. There are also hiking trails available for those who want to get outside and enjoy nature at its finest. For those who like to camp out under the stars, there are two primitive campsites available at the park as well as two RV hook-up sites that include water and electricity hook-ups for RVs up to 40 feet long.

We hope you’ll consider visiting one of these parks during your next getaway. Looking for a car that will take you on all your adventures? Look no further than the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
