We really love our Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine down in Texas! So if you’re new in town here in Corsicana, TX, before you go any further, you need to get yourself familiar with the best Mexican restaurants in our city. Here are our recommendations that not only serve deliciously filling and spicy Mexican cuisine but are also great family restaurants where you can take the whole family!

1. Tortilleria Matehuala y Restaurante

If there’s one thing we can say about Mexican food down here in Texas, it’s that you can truly get authentic stuff, and that will make you feel like you’ve gone south of the border. And this family-run restaurant making homemade corn tortillas at 105 West 7th Avenue is the best example of this in Corsicana.

The menu is simple. Choose your type of homemade tortilla or tamale, and then choose a type of delicious meat to go with it! Our favorites are their mole poblano and birre de res, but honestly, with how well they make the tortillas, you can’t go wrong no matter what you put on them!

2. Taqueria Las Comadres

If you just need to quickly fill your Mexican cravings with some filling, delicious, and inexpensive tacos, we can recommend you head over to Las Comadres at 309 South 18th Street. And with tacos starting at $2.65 and quesadillas from $5, who’s complaining?

If you’re a bit more hungry, they have an excellent selection of platillos (main courses) as well, including Mexican steak, deviled shrimp, and a delicious, hearty Mexican beef soup. Just a warning though; they make the food spicy here unless you request otherwise!

3. Govea’s Mexican Restaurant

If you’re looking for a place with more of a family diner feel, and Tex-Mex dishes that might be more like what you’ll find elsewhere throughout Texas, then we can recommend Govea’s at 316 South 20th Street.

Here they do all the family-favorite Mexican dishes, and they’ll do them well! You can grab some delicious chili con carne, enchiladas, nachos con queso, burritos, fajitas, and more. But their most well-known dishes in the town are the filete de pescado frito (filet of fried fish) and filete de pescado relleno de camarones (fish filet stuffed with shrimp pieces).

If you’re starting to really love Mexican food here in Corsicana (and we can’t blame you), then it probably won’t be long until you have the craving to explore the delicious Mexican offerings elsewhere. But before you embark on a road trip like this, head to down to Brinson CDJR to grab yourself a new car that’s fuel efficient and reliable enough for the job, like the 2022 Jeep Cherokee.
