2021 RAM ProMaster City

The 2021 RAM ProMaster City is a compact van offered in two trim levels, as well as two configurations. The trim levels are Tradesman and SLT, while the configurations are known as Cargo (seating for two) and Wagon (seating for five). From the outside, the base Tradesman trim level showcases halogen headlights, LED brake lights, 16-inch steel wheels, tinted side glass, four doors, and black front and rear bumpers. The rear doors swing out at 180 degrees to provide access to the cargo area.

Stepping up to the SLT trim level adds upgraded window tinting and heated, power-adjustable side mirrors. The van is also available with several packages and standalone options, including 16-inch alloy wheels, fog lights, cargo area LED lighting, and a tow hitch. All versions of the ProMaster City rely on the same 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine, which makes 178 horsepower and 174 pound-feet of torque. It pairs with a nine-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. This van is not available with four-wheel or all-wheel drive.

Since this work/passenger van is based on a similar small-van platform developed by Fiat, it shares some similarities with the city-ready model. Fuel efficiency is quite impressive, with EPA estimates coming in at 21 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, or 24 mpg combined.

You can also load up this van for transportation or deliveries, as its payload capacity tops out at 1,883 pounds. This number beats out most of the rivals in the segment. When equipped with the tow hitch, an optional upgrade on both trim levels, the vehicle can tow up to 2,000 pounds. The ProMaster City also delivers impressive ride quality and handling, regardless of the driving conditions.

Within the cabin of the Tradesman Cargo van, you'll find cloth upholstery, a front overhead storage bin, keyless entry functionality, manual climate control, two manually adjustable front seats, and a driver's seat armrest. On the tech side, it includes a four-speaker sound system, a USB input, a 5-inch touch screen, a 12-volt power outlet in the cargo area, and Bluetooth connectivity. The Wagon version adds a 60/40 split-folding rear seat that takes the capacity to five.

Interior enhancements on the SLT trim include upgraded cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and lumbar and height adjustments on the driver's seat. Options include heated front seats, premium vinyl seat upholstery, a six-speaker sound system, a cargo partition, and navigation.

All 2021 RAM ProMaster City models come well-equipped with airbags in one or both rows, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, stability control with anti-roll capabilities, an engine immobilizer, and traction control. Rear parking sensors are available as an optional upgrade.
